Reclaimed heart pine flooring is another popular choice. It’s abundant, reasonably strong and available in a range of sizes. Heart Pine ages beautifully with strong contrasting lines in the grain which enhance its characteristic look and feel.
Heart pine refers to which part of the log the lumber comes from. The “heart” is everything except the softer outer layer or sapwood. See here for heart wood.
Heart pine flooring is often milled out of larger beams which provides a decent range of available dimensions as a flooring product. Typically though we usually have flooring options between ~ 3 – 7” wide by 3 – 12’+ in length. As always the standard thickness is ¾” but we can adjust this as needed.
Uses: residential, commercial too as heart pine is a little harder than standard pine.
